Notes on Kite Aerial Photography: Background
Vol. 3, No. 1, Winter 1997 (71K jpg)
Issue nine covers KAP electronics and has one of my all-time favorite AE articles --
instructions by Peter Bults on how to reconfigure an aircraft transmitter so that it is
more suitable for KAP purposes. The issue also includes a piece on flying digital cameras
and a description of servo modification techniques. Altogether another winner

Vol. 3, No. 2, Spring 1997 (71K jpg)
Issue ten is an intriguing one and in several ways mirrors my own developments in kite
aerial photography. Of late I have been getting increasingly interested in the applied
dimensions of KAP and this issue provides examples ranging from the documentation of
petrified tree stumps to the study of penguin colonies in Antarctica.

Vol. 3, No. 3, Summer 1997 (43K jpg)
Another fact-filled issue with descriptions of several interesting rigs. Perhaps the most
poignant story in this issue is associated with the cover image. It was taken one year
after an SLR rig was dropped into the North Sea while it was being towed behind the same
boat. The fine cover shot is testimony to perseverance.

Brooks completed the third year with a successful experiment in digital printing.
Having previously produced the Aerial Eye a piecework on personal printers this issue was
produced by a digital printing house on a Agfa Chromapress. It is a new and handsome
look for the newsletter.
This issue, addressing "gadgets & gimmicks", provided ample grist for the
inventive dreams including descriptions of novel frame counters, aluminum gluing
technique, new twists on video assist, stereo rigs and much, much more.
