Dynamic Effects Exercise Sunrise 6:06 am Sunset
8:07 pm
For this project, I elected to use black and white film to reveal the changes in light condition over time. I elected to study my living room, a space I have sat almost every day the past few weeks working on thesis. When I sit and work, I do not notice much of a change in the light. I do notice sunrise and sunset, but not much in between. I wanted to test to see how much the light did change. I took pictures every 5 minutes from sunrise until 7:05 am. Light varied enough during this time to warrant pictures over a smaller time interval. From then on, I took pictures every hour - save for a break at 12 noon and 1 pm for a meeting.

To my surprise, the adjustments made by the camera rendered null the lively light variations between sunrise at 6:07 am and 7 am. During this time, the sun rose, cleared the ridge, and burned through the fog. Light varied significantly. As our own eyes adjust, I left the camera on auto so it could adjust. The slide show shows little variation at first. |

By the time the sun cleared the ridge and burned through the fog, it was 44 minutes after sunrise. From this point on, there is noticeable variation within the room. |
